MLS game #30: DCU @ KC Wizards

10/24/2009 9:50 AM by Kyle Sheldon

The playoff scenarios are mind-boggling.

It is actually possible for United to find its way into the MLS Cup playoffs regardless of win, loss or draw tonight, but the likelihood is very slim if the Black-and-Red come away with anything but a victory in Kansas City. The Wizards cannot make it to the post-season, but will certainly come out hoping to put on a show for their fans in the last home game of the year.

You already know the team remains without three unquestioned starters in Bryan Namoff, Santino Quaranta and Josh Wicks, all of whom are still recovering from injury. Andrew Jacobson (hamstring strain), who earlier in the week was on the injury list as 'doubtful,' has been upgraded to 'probable.'

It's set to be a wild 36 hours in Major League Soccer, with nearly every match today and tomorrow influencing the post-season. Be sure to keep an eye on every other game, beginning with Toronto at New York at 7:30pm ET tonight.

United-Wizards can be watched locally in the DC region on Comcast SportsNet Plus (8:30 pm ET).

Lots to read and watch as you prepare for this evening's all-important contest:

What are your thoughts heading into tonight's game? Who would you like to see on the field? Do you think United can pull of the win?

Look guys, im not here to antagonize or disrespect anyone.
It is really sad, that we have to be begging for help from others MLS teams.

DC United has won 4 MLS cups without any help from others MLS teams. We don't deserve to make the playoffs period! Or what's the point of making it and getting knock out at the first round.
i might sound to negative, but i just want the best for DC United, and the best thing is not making it, and let the DESTROYER go NOW!

If you guys really love this team, you all should be on my side!

I do love this team. And I will be supporting them 100% to the 90th minute of the today's final game. You cannot blame the whole season on Soehn - we have lost points to poor refereeing, injuries, and defensive mistakes at the LB. Dont keep focusing on the big picture now - just focus on beating KC.

    DC-2 (Pontius 65' Moreno 85')
    KC-1 (Lopez 14')

    Let's go DC United!

DCU 2-0 KC. Emilio with a late goal in the first half and Pontius to finish the game off in the 75th min.

Wow, really sad that there still some DCU fans thinking that Soehn is a good coach.

After 3 win less season and making some really bad calls on the line up.
At the final game vs Columbus, I met some Columbus fans, they told me as a Columbus and MLS fans they were disgraced about DCU coaching stuffs!

They asked me.....DCU being the most successful team in MLS history, how can you keep a guy that has no idea of the meaning of DC United?

Istand4united. The only reason you want us to lose is so that Tommy can get fired. Don't worry the only way he won't get fired is if dc win the mls cup. DC 2 Kc 1. I see jaime and gomito coming up big.

Hey my bretheren United fans. I can't get over the loss to San Jose (early in the season when we were up by 2). Those points would be handy now and no excuse to be in this position.

Having said that, let me move on to cheap self promotion. I am running the JFK 50 on 11/21 to raise money for FC Frederick club soccer scholarship fund. For $5 bucks (less than a beer at RFK) you could help create the next Ben Olsen, Marc Burch or Devon Mctavish who may otherwise not even make the H.S. team. I wish it weren't this way in the U.S., but kids who don't get to play club level soccer are frequently told to not even bother trying out for their High School teams. Please help me make a difference by going to the F.C. Frederick Website, or www.active.com/donate/fcfscholarship/jfk50.
I am hoping for a lot to give just a little. Thank you.
