Introducing the We Win Trophies Tour

Today, we announced the We Win Trophies Tour, a 20-stop bar tour showcasing United's rich history of winning trophies. The tour kicks off in conjunction with today's U.S.-Mexico World Cup qualifer at five popular soccer bars.

From 3-6 p.m. today you can find United front office staffers at the following locations:

Union Jacks (671 N. Glebe Rd. - Arlington, VA)
Summers (1520 N. Courthouse - Arlington, VA)
Molly Malone's (713 8th St. SE - Washington, DC)
Pour House (319 Penn. Ave SE - Washington, DC)
Lucky Bar (1221 Conn. Ave NW - Washington, DC)

At each bar stop along the way, you'll be able to:

Take your picture with the 2008 U.S. Open Cup trophy.
Enter to win merchandise and memorabilia.
Enter to win four fantasy sideline seats to the 2009 Open Cup Final that includes a 12-second all-you-can-grab spree through D.C. United's Official Team Store for each of the four guests at the game.

Yes, you read that right: 12 seconds. All-you-can-grab. D.C. United Team Store. Sick.

Here's what club President and CEO Kevin Payne had to say about the tour:

"“The trophies D.C. United has won over the years belong not just to the team, but to our fans and the greater Washington, D.C. community. We thought it made sense to share our success with our supporters through this We Win Trophies Tour. Though we have a lot of trophies to choose from, we decided it appropriate to visit our fans with the club’s most recent trophy and the one we will try to defend on September 2.”

that shopping spree idea is sick. i've been sitting here, planning how I would tackle that...

Can we have a pinch-runner for the spree? I'm too fat, but my son could grab a lot of XXL gear for me in that time...I'd let him get a hat for himself or something to be fair.

This tour needs at least one stop in MD (even if it's just Silver Spring or Bethesda) and probably a few in NOVA.

Still an awesome idea.
