USOC quarterfinal: DCU vs. Harrisburg City Islanders

07/07/2009 9:44 AM by Kyle Sheldon

D.C. United faces the Harrisburg City Islanders tonight at the Maryland SoccerPlex in Boyds, MD. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET. Should the team advance tonight, it would host the winner of Rochester Rhinos vs. Wilmington Hammerheads at the SoccerPlex on July 21.

During his three-plus seasons as United's head coach, Tom Soehn has only lost a single game in Open Cup play - the 1-0 defeat at the hand of the Islanders on July 11, 2007 (Soehn's first full season). Since that loss, the team is 7-0 in the tournament. Only three players remain from the group that played in that 2007 game - Marc Burch, Devon McTavish and Clyde Simms.

Jaime Moreno and Luciano Emilio remain doubtful for tonight's match, but after playing in the second half on Saturday Fred is available to the coaches.

Here are a few things to get you up to speed on tonight's game:

So, what say you? Can United get past the City Islanders this time around? Any predicitions? Who would you like to see in the starting lineup tonight?

N'silu must score! He has got to step it up. If Wallace plays the same as on the 4th. he will light it up and make it look easy. Barklage needs some more minutes and where is Avery John? Anyone?

Okay DC United do not underestimate them. But i fell we can beat them itll probably be a hard one but dang it we are defending champions. i can guarantee the lineup that we will play will be better than 07. and our 09 team is better than our 08 team so let's go!
