Mamadou Danso acquired

We just got word from General Manager Dave Kasper that the team just acquired defender Mamadou Danso via the waiver ranking order (though, we're not sure what that means). He left college early to sign with MLS.
Said Kasper of Danso: "We are pleased to have obtained Mamadou from the MLS waiver process. He is a strong central defender with a big, physical presence and we look forward to giving him an opportunity to earn a spot with D.C. United."
Danso is a natural center back, but played forward last year at Southern Polytechnic University (in Georgia) and did pretty well while there, scoring 19 goals and notching six assists.
Said his head coach Kom Momeni: "He has always been very reluctant to play as a forward, as his natural position is a center back. He will be a professional in that position. He never felt comfortable as a Forward. He just did it because it was best for the team."
After being named the 2008 Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Player of the Year, Offensive Player of Year, First Team Selection ('07 and '08) and Newcomer of the Year ('07), Danso was honored by the NAIA as a member of the 2008 All-America Honorable Mention Team.

I think this as well as the other younger players we've picked up in the off season are excellent decisions for the team that will allow them not just to be good but also to be competitive for the entire season. I feel like that ideology has been abandoned in the last few years and it has shown. Dc hasn't had the kind of youth talent to finish the season into playoffs. Now that's not to say they weren't good because that's far from the truth. If they could have stayed health they had the talent to blow any other team away. But keeping older players healthy for an entire season is a herculean task in a physical league like MLS. In any event welcome to the team Danso.

Seriously seems like the front office is trying to build for the future. A nice departure from last year.
Yet, they are still maintaining an excellent starting XI. I have rarely felt better about the team's prospects for the future.

That's a Carolina Railhawks uniform he's wearing there. Any info on what he did with them?
