This morning, United's coaches and players will gather at RFK Stadium for the first time in 2009. The team will be put through a few tests and perhaps some weight room work, but will likely not take the field. The initial pre-season roster looks like this:
Goalkeepers (4): Louis Crayton, Milos Kocic, James Thorpe, Zach Wells.
Defenders (10): Marc Burch, Ivan Guerrero, Greg Janicki, Gonzalo Martinez, Devon McTavish, Ryan Miller, Bryan Namoff, Kyle Veris, Rodney Wallace, Mike Zaher.
Midfielders (7): Brandon Barklage, Fred, Marcelo Gallardo, Domenic Mediate, Ben Olsen, Clyde Simms, Joe Vide.
Forwards (6): Francis Doe, Luciano Emilio, Boyzzz Khumalo, Jaime Moreno, Chris Pontius, Santino Quaranta.
A few notes:
- Trialists and hopefuls will be added to the pre-season roster throughout the coming weeks.
- Fred will join the team early next week.
- Ivan Guerrero continues to train with the Honduras National Team and will report to camp in February.
- Marcelo Gallardo has been given permission to join the team at a later date.
- Lyle Adams (Wake Forest) is the only draftee not currently in camp.
- Kyle Veris, formerly of the LA Galaxy, has joined the team on trial after most recently playing with I.L. Hødd in Norway.

Where is everyone's favorite Ore Digger? Surely he must at least be in the "trialist and hopeful" category, no?

I agree, Thompson needs to be part of the squad. I can only assume they are wating for a contract since there is probably little interest from elsewhere.

Hey Kyle, What happened to Quavas Kirk, Joe Vide, Ryan Cordeiro, and Craig Thompson??

Since the league cut the developmental roster from 8 slots down to just 4, it really leaves us with very little room to develop new talent. Looks like Cordeiro, Thompson, and Kirk are the unfortunate casualties of the rule change.
