Fred debuted this weekend for the Wellington Phoenix FC, as the A-League side hosted the Newcastle Jets on Sunday. Fred started and played 70 minutes in Wellington’s 2-0 win. Fred and the New Zealanders had a one-man advantage early on when in the 52nd minute, a studs-up tackle on the Brazilian earned the Jets their second red card of the game. Read the game story here. Wellington will next face Fred’s former team, Melbourne Victory, on Friday.
