Photo of the day: Visit from U.S. Ambassador

Prior to last night's game, members of United had a special visit from the Costa Rican U.S. Ambassador Peter Cianchette and his family, wife Carolyn and children Evan and Maria. Ambassador Cianchette was presented with a personalized D.C. United kit and wished the players good luck just moments before they took the field for warm-ups.
The ambassador's family's presence, coupled with 20+ United fans who made the long trek from D.C., gave the Black-and-Red a boost of support seldom felt on the road in Central America. United's hardcore fans were impressive, chanting and cheering despite being just slightly outnumbered by Saprissa's followers. The players were all impressed with the turnout and showed their appreciation both pre and post-game by clapping in the direction of the brave ones.

I am glad United was able to bring our govt official a pride. And kudos to who travelled all the way. It's becoming like europe and it sets the examples by United fans again.

Was definitely proud to be at the match in Costa Rica and see the boys score 2 goals on the road. I lost my voice!
