10/09/2008 9:32 AM by Cris Cruz

USL-1 side Impact de Montreal continued its undefeated streak last night as they beat Joe Public FC 4-1. With three wins and a tie in the inaugural Champions League, Montreal sits atop the Group C standings with ten points and is poised to advance to the quarterfinals, while Joe Public sits alone at the bottom of the table. In that same group, Olimpia and Atlante played to a 1-1 draw in Honduras. The home team fell behind in the 34th minute but rallied to find the equalizer late in the match.

Group D saw leaders Puerto Rico Islanders fall to Santos Laguna, its first defeat in Champions League play. Eyeing the USL-1 championship on Sunday, Puerto Rico rested many key starters and lost to the home team 3-0. In the second Group D match, Municipal rallied to a 2-2 draw with Tauro with a goal in injury time. Earning a point, Tauro moved into a tie for first place with the Islanders.

The final two matches of this date will be played tonight, as D.C. United faces Deportivo Saprissa (10 p.m. ET on Fox Soccer Channel) and UNAM travels to Firpo (10 p.m. ET on Galavision).
