MLS Game #23: DCU @ San Jose

09/06/2008 11:27 AM by Doug Hicks

While United supporters recovered Thursday from a night of celebrating their club's U.S. Open Cup victory, the team packed their bags and flew cross-country to begin preperations for tonight's League match against San Jose.  It's tough sledding for the Black-and-Red this weekend.  United faithful in the Nation's Capital are dealing with Hurricane Hanna.  Tom Soehn has to field a line-up tonight without Bryan Namoff, Gonzalo Peralta, Ben Olsen, Fred, Jaime Moreno and Luciano Emilio, among others.  He also has to deal with this!

The United contingent that did make the trip gathered last night with owners Victor MacFarlane, Will Chang and their families for dinner.  After grabbing the club's 12th major title Wednesday night, the group is refocused and ready for the challenge the Earthquakes, on a seven-game unbeaten streak, are sure to bring tonight.  Kick-off is set for 10:00 p.m. ET.  You can see it live on Comcast SportsNet.

Let's prepare:

2-0 DC. Don't coach Crayton too much! He reacts better with his natural instincts.

With the injury list we have right now, I'd take a draw and run like a bandit.

Well, without Moreno, Emilio and Fred, we'll not have alot of offensive options, save Quaranta and Gallardo (maybe. We'll not have a great defense without Namoff, Vide and Peralta. Oh well, it's gonna be a low scoring game.

    DC 1 San Jose 0

The injury report is like the starting 11!

Remember last year when we had bunches of injuries and we were away to NE? We won 3-0! So that's what I'm going to go with!
    3-0 DC!!!

    1-0 United. Goal by Cordeiro

I think that the experience guys like Cordeiro, Thompson, Carroll, and Zaher have gotten over the past couple months will be invaluable to our success tonight.

2-1 to San Jose. They're doing well right now and we don't have a strong offense. :(

3-1 United, after a gritty, banged out streetfight of a game. Goals by Gallardo, Martinez, and Cordeiro. Tino with 2 assists.
