Video: The goals

08/13/2008 12:33 AM by Kyle Sheldon

Below is a quick YouTubers we put together of the goals from tonight's win over the Revolution.  We'll have a full Access United with post-game player quotes tomorrow, but being that there wasn't any TV broadcast tonight, we thought you might appreciate seeing this footage as soon as possible...  Two great goals from last year's League MVP and a pretty finish from this year's top candidate for Comeback Player of the Year.

    Yes! Thanks for the video!
Luci's header was awesome, the second angle on that really showed how great it was.
The quality of the goals we scored were great, while the NE goal was a bit soft. but who cares we're off to the final!!!

I never like see players walk away from a team celebration. I'm looking at you, Peralta.

dcuoffside - I think he may have been too tired to celebrate. It was, after all, his first game back since July 19!

Exactly...I noticed it too and my first thought was actually how exhausted his faced looked..and at that point it was 3-1 and game over...

I'm glad that DC United is taking the US Open Cup seriously this time around. Last year was pretty hard to take.

With the winner qualifying for the Champions League, the Open Cup tournament actually becomes the most direct (and possibly the easiest) method of qualifying for CONCACAF.

The fact that Steve Nicol put out such a young line-up really makes me wonder if they're being a bit over-confident. By not treating the Open Cup with more significance, they're essentially stating that they believe they can qualify for CONCACAF by either winning the Supporters Shield or making it to MLS Cup.

With their congested schedule, anything (i.e., injuries, suspensions, fatigue, national team call-ups) can happen that could make it extremely difficult for Steve Nicol's team to qualify for CONCACAF.

The only other justification I can see for Steve Nicol's decision to rest so many of their key players is that he did not believe that the Revolution could beat DC United at RFK--and that's a nice thought.

Regardless of his gamble, it's nice to see DC United back in a championship final. They better not blow it!
