We've just announce the club has acquired midfielder Joe Vide. 24-year old Vide was acquired in today's waiver draft after the San Jose Earthquakes waived him on July 14. He was drafted out of the University of Virginia by the MetroStars in 2006. For the official news go to www.dcunited.com.
Vide will be available for selection in next Tuesday's match against the Houston Dynamo. Tickets for that game are available here.

Let's not make a habit with picking up former NYers, but welcome aboard Joe.
Where does he play? Outside right?

I remember him playing pretty well in NY. But I think the whole expansion move to SJ was too big of an impact for him. Hopefully he can add some depth for DC's midfield.

Maybe this will help to get more Cville folks into RFK.

DC United Management has been outstanding over the 12 years of the franchise, let us see if they can correct the horrendous mistakes of bringing in Gallardo and Peralta. Gallardo cannot inspire or even organize an attack, perhaps a useful spear-carrier on a great team such as the Argentine national team, but clearly not the base for even a competent team. Peralta cannot organize a defense or even defend. Gomez and Boswell would have been better, and cost $1.5 million less.
Joe Vida? He can sit by Quavas Kirk, another castoff from a bad team.
Next recruit? Hugo Sanchez. Does DC United management have the courage to take on a Latin American who would insist on being in charge -- not just another hat-in-hand immigrant worker?
